Such a moving piece of community film, it will strike a note with anyone who has dealt with someone close to them suffering from mental illness.

South by South West festival: Tyneside to Texas

It's been 1 week since I returned from the heat and wonder of SXSW – enough time to begin to digest my first US festival. Haus were privileged to be invited to go to the Interactive strand of SXSW, as part of iShed and Arts Council’s Creative Producers Development Programme.  SXSW Interactive is five days of compelling presentations from the brightest minds in emerging technology, a plethora of exciting networking events hosted by industry leaders, a trade show, plus showcases of the best new digital works, video games and innovative ideas.

Our official launch

We're currently preparing for our official launch party on Thursday 19 November.  We've been so busy managing and developing exciting new content for our projects, that we haven't 'officially' had our Haus Party yet.  This is finally a chance to invite colleagues (past, present and future) and friends to join us for a drink, and to learn more about us (as well as inevitably meeting some exciting and like-minded people from the region.)

Design Event 09 Update

Design Event 09 Update

With Design Event 09 festival just weeks away, we're leaping ahead with progress.  The beautifully designed invitation packs went out last week to Design Event networks, telling all about what has been planned around the festival theme of Politics and Play.  I've also hosted briefing sessions for our team of over 50 volunteers – always encouraging to see some committed and interested people joining the team to deliver the festival.

It's Design Event's 5th birthday, and working here for the third year myself, I'm pleased to be managing some great projects and events.  One of my personal favourites has to be Simon Heijdens' TREE installation, which I've been managing, along with some great technical support from Nick Joyce and his team at ArtAV.
