Lessons on Digital Marketing

Lessons on Digital Marketing

We were invited to deliver the theory and case-study side of a Digital Marketing module for third year Advertising and Media BA students at Northumbria University. This seemed a daunting challenge at first, but has been really enjoyable. We've delivered 12 hours of lectures now, and even more seminars. What a fab opportunity to wax lyrical about the use of twitter by businesses, talk about the use of social media in marketing, and expound new technologies which have been fascinating us for a long while; mobile marketing, augmented reality, alternate reality games, and future trends in eccommerce, analytics and crowdsourcing. All of these methods have formed part of our work over the last year, for every client and project, so it was great to be given an opportunity to reflect on our own on-the-job knowledge and thicken it out with some fascinating findings.

In our research, we made friends with great people and sites such as Econsultancy, and Smart Insights

Video proved a great resource. Here's one of our favourites by geek comedian Tom Scott from Thinking Digital Conference 2010, who uses this short story to explain the power of crowds, and how our understanding of the world has turned upside down through the power of digital.
