Name and Nick Able - MEGACITY
Haus Projects is producing a new audiovisual performance with visual artists Name (Nik Barrera and Andrew Nixon) and musician Nick Able.
MEGACITY is an audiovisual show involving live musicians, which explores unusual narratives from India, bringing these experiences back to the UK and dissecting, transforming and remixing them for their live performance, giving a unique take on perceptions of the country, and celebrating the emerging rich digital culture in India. The project will seek to challenge perceived differences between the UK and India in both countries’ audiences, and demonstrate the collaborative creative opportunities that are there to be harnessed.
The project will involve the production team traveling to India, and shooting footage and creating content in Delhi with Indian artists and young people, culminating in a live performance to premiere at The Sage Gateshead. MEGACITY will go on to tour music and digital media festivals in 2011, with an all-participants show in India later that year.

Name are partners Nikolas Barrera and Andrew Nixon. Established for eight years, they combine commercial design work (online and offline) with arts and event based projects. The majority of Name projects combine some or all of the following: video, print, motion graphics, audio composition, commissioning, live performance, promotion and photography. This enables them to create seamless visions across diverse media. Name work collaboratively or as lead artists.
Name is also a part of NOVAK Collective. NOVAK is made up of 5 digital artists based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Recent NOVAK arts based projects include:

Nick Able is a professional musician, composer and teacher living in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and runs his own music production and online music tuition company Nick Able Music. He composes music for film, tv, games, multimedia as well as collaborating with other musicians and artists on projects. Nick also owns a studio where he produces his music and works in production, composition, sound design, audio programming, audio restoration, foley (sound effects), stereo mixing, 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound mixing. Nick has been a disciple of Pt Ravi Shankar since 2002 and is one of the few resident students at the Ravi Shankar Centre in New Delhi. Nick has toured internationally with his Guru and Anoushka and in 2006 became a member of Anoushka"s ensemble performing live electronics on her “Rise" tour.
