Write Around the Toon
Haus provided consultancy on funding and project management, as well as running training sessions, for Write Around The Toon - a web-based, self-guided creative writing tour of Newcastle-Gateshead.
Beginning with a series of residencies by creative writing PhD students from Newcastle and Northumbria Universities (which can be read about on the blog), the project will result in an online resource offering not only a writing tour of Newcastle-Gateshead with writing exercises and ideas, but also examples of work from new writers who have been inspired by the tour locations.
Host Institutions include: Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Bessie Surtees House, the City Library, Dance City, Discovery Museum, Great North Museum, Hatton Gallery, Laing Art Gallery, Life Science Centre, Lit & Phil, Northern Stage, Seven Stories, Shipley Art Gallery, The Sage Gateshead, Theatre Royal, and Tyneside Cinema.
Write Around The Toon writers include: Viccy Adams, Marianne Archbold, Jill Clough, Christy Ducker, Daniel Hardisty, Barbara Henderson, Helen Limon, Alex Lockwood, John Maguire, Kachi A. Ozumba, Stevie Ronnie, Sarah Shaw, and Alison Summers.
Write Around the Toon is funded by the AHRC and the Newcastle Centre for the Literary Arts.
